Welcome to my new home…
I’ve been thinking about getting my own domain for a long time now. My first choice for the domain was www.tanman.com for a couple of reasons… First is that it’s short and it’s easy to remember, Second is that it says my name Tan with a little splash of Chachi’s nickname-innovatory Man, hence the “TanMan”–which I’m very happy to announce my good friend Chachi (Christopher Salonga) sort of made famous. He is the one responsible for people calling me “TanMan” which I love very much. As you can see this domain didn’t work out because www.tanman.com is already registered to someone else. But this I’m sure happened for an awesome reason and you’ll soon find out why.
My Second Choice for the domain was www.tanmanphotographie.com… I figured I should add a dash of Photography with the name to associate with what this blog is about anyway. So why photographie instead of photography? Photography, I thought was already overused in domain names, I wanted to be different (it’s one of the reasons why I got my domain after all) I didn’t want .blogspot.com or .wordpress.com in my address bar anymore. I didn’t want to tell people I have I blog on Blogspot.com or any blog services anymore too.
I think Photogrpahie pop-out of my vocabulary 3-4 years ago when I started studying French (I studied on and off for 4 years now). Photographie is Photography in French (la photographie). Photographie because I thought it was cool to miss-spell something very easy to spell, add the little phie at the end instead of the phy… makes it more cute and awesome… hahaha :))
And lastly, I almost forgot that I was already using “TanMan Photographie” maybe 2-3 years already… in the books i’ve published with blurb.com, in some of my posts in my old blog, etc. etc. So I decided www.tanmanphotographie.com will be the new home for my blog. The process was really simple, Sign up, choose domain, then pay. easy as 1-2-3.
I am apologizing in advance because I am very sure that I will try to re-post some of the old stuff from my blogspot.com blog. I just want to get the feel of this wordpress.com services before everything starts to get out of hand. It will sort of be my practice posts because it’s my first time as a wordpress user anyway.
